a tragic loss
March 4, 2009six days ago, the unexpected had happened. no one could believe that such horrible thing would come. two of my colleagues and mentors perished from a brutal car accident. our company car, an izusu crosswind, which was driven by kuya remy whose passengers that time were ms. caren and our area manager ,ma’am dida, was hit by a speeding loaded fish car in Quezon, Bukidnon.
my colleagues were on there way to Davao City after their last stop at one of our clients in Maramag, Bukidnon. the fateful accident claimed two lives of my colleagues - kuya remy and ms. caren. i don’t know if there were fatalities also on the part of the fishcar’s passengers. we are still thankful that our area manager who was with them had scaped the claws of death.
a lose of one dependable ally is so discomforting. but a lose of two friends and mentors is more painful and tragic. kuya remy was my first mentor. he was the very first person who became my close friend when i started out in the company. he was the one, in a sense, who oriented me about the working environment and the people in the organization. while ms. caren had tutored me in the basic operations of our company. she had guided me in the ins-and-outs of our job.
kuya remy, our company driver, was a constant awardee of the company. he was with the company for more than a decade and had been a hall of famer as a company driver. i never been in the crash site but i can safely conclude that he didn’t made an error on that fateful day. they were just minutes away from there last stop in Bukidnon.
he had enough rest before the said trip since we were together since monday. it was only during monday that they have a long trip from Davao City to Bislig City and then to Butuan City. on tuesday, he was only in Butuan City. the following day, we only had a 2-and-half hour trip from Butuan City to Camiguin. and it was only a 2-hour trip from Talisayan to CDO on thursday. we didn’t stay late on thursday. he retired to his hotel at 8pm.
i mourn their death. we, our company, mourn our lose. we pray that their souls may rest in peace eternally. we will surely miss you.
