lechon-baboy bread
August 2, 2008it’s not the carton character porky. nor it’s a pork recipe.
i was just amaze of my new find in butuan city. i was there for three days since monday. it was 9:00 PM and i was hungry so i opted to go out of the hotel and looked for some bakeshoppes. my feet brought me to CARDINAL Bakeshoppe which is located just a few steps from the hotel.
i was browsing on the variety of bread that was on display. there was nothing unusual in the display. it was similar with other bread house. it, however, offers one of a kind bread. they called it the lechon bread. the saleslady told me that it’s a plain bread with no pork or lechon baboy fillings in it. i was curious so i bought one. i just like to try to know if it really taste like a lechon baboy.
without any greater expectation, the saleslady was right. it has no fillings or whatsoever and it did not taste like lechon baboy. but they coined it as lechon bread because of its shape or design. actually i also encountered this type of bread when i was in high school. it was not the lechon bread but a crocodile-shaped bread. they were baked to form like a baby crocodile. however, the crocodile bread was baked like that of the pan elorde.
people who are afraid of eating pork for fear of high blood or hypertensions or cholesterol are welcome to try this treat from CARDINAL bakeshop of butuan city. there is no pork ingredient in it, anyway.

it’s an excellent gift idea.. at least i know now what present i will give kuya remy on his birthday or sir doods this christmas. it’s really a great treat for those people who are watching their cholesterol level.
it’s just so unfortunate that we don’t have bakeshops in CDO that bakes such bread.
