airbus-feel inside the bus

February 12, 2008

i know it only exist in mega cities around the world. it ferries people from and to their work daily and those who travels not on fastest train and largest airplanes. i only see or experience them in movies.

being from mindanao and who resides again in the beautiful and peaceful island of mindanao (only those who have not set foot on mindanao will consider mindanao as a war-torn island), i did not expect i could travel in such kind of transport i only saw in movies. i am refering to the newly-acquired King Long bus unit of Rural Tours/Transit Corporation or whatever you call it.

i was amazed because i believe that if Philipppines will have this sort, it would only ply the routes of major cities in luzon and in the vizayas; and not in the Land of Promise. i consider this as a good sign that, indeed, mindanao is no longer of that iraq-like image which the media always projects to the people. i am happy that we, mindanaons, are also enjoying the finer side life in our own backyard.

the King Long Bus unit that plies CDO-Davao and CDO-Butuan routes today is the same unit you’ll see in high-budget holywood movies. you’ll have the feel of riding on an airbus manufactured airplane yet you are inside the bus traveling on land. it’s interior is patterned on the interior of an airplane, only that its overhead storage box/cabin is slightly smaller tailored to fit in the bus.

I’ve been to both Davao and CDO and both are very developed and beautiful cities. The image of Mindanao as war torn is maintained only by the ignorant I believe. So hears to getting the word out! Blog on!

you’re right, bro.. only people who had never set foot in the beautiful island of Mindanao thought of it as an unwelcoming battle-ground between gov’t troops and rebels.

I just realized my spelling went the way of crap on my last comment. Forgive the stupidity.

I am also a firm believer in constantly developing our country’s other cities. Metro Manila is way too crowded which is a pity because there are lots of opportunities opening up in the Visayas and Mindanao. Cheers kind sir! Blog on
